He was predeceased by: his father Lester Holmes; and his brother Timothy Holmes. He is survived by: his wife Kathy; his mother Blanche Holmes; his mother-in-law Judith O'Connor; his children, Erin Holmes, Gil Bechtel, Erin Desfosses (Ryan), Michael Whitmer (Sami Whitmer), Dirk Whitmer, Vivian Haggart and Evan Horne; his brother Brad Holmes; his grandchildren, Brandon Cropley, Owen Cropley, Aiden Desfosses, Tana Whitmer, Jesse Whitmer, Tadd Whitmer, Lore Whitmer, Tiffani Whitmer and Nancy Whitmer; his siblings-in-law, Colleen Good, Maureen Burch and Thomas O'Connor; his nieces, Brittany Good, Julia Good, Kristin Birkenmeier, Tristan Birkenmeier, Ashley Burch and Crystal Mclaughlin; his nephew Brian O'Connor; and his great-nephew Grayson Burch.
