He was predeceased by: his wife Linda J. Lavway (Flanagan); and his brothers, Jeffery, Timothy and Terrance Lavway. He is survived by: his parents, John Lavway (Rosemarie Lavway) and Dorothy Lavway (Easler) of Presque Isle; his daughter Jenny "Pumpkin"; his son-in-law Carter Chandler of Mapleton; and his brother Kendall (Linda L. Lavway) of Mapleton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
