He was predeceased by: his mother Priscilla Murphy; and his brother George Murphy. He is survived by: his father Alfred Murphy; his wife Kathleen Murphy of Lewiston; his sons, Michael Murphy, Jr. (Pam) of Lewiston and Matthew Murphy (Kathy) of Westfield; his grandchildren, Jordann, Jacob, Meagan, Shea, Ryan and Riley; and his siblings, Deborah Knight of Westbrook and John Murphy of Sanford.

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel (1024 Broadway, South Portland, ME 04106). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Homes and Cremation Services (1024 Broadway, South Portland, ME 04106). A burial was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 at the Calvary Cemetery (1461 Broadway, South Portland, ME 04106).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Andwell Hospice House, 236 Stetson Rd., Auburn, Maine 04210.
