With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Jane Gates of Portland, Maine, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 25, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Henry Huffaker Gates; her grandparents, Henderson and Ethel Gates; her mother Julia Thompson Stalder; her aunts, Elizabeth "Bibby" Gates Clegg, Helen Thompson Buckner, Jimmie Huffaker and Lucile Harrison Ditto; her sister-in-law Terri Gates; and her stepson Jeff Elston.
She is survived by: her brothers, Robert Gates and Dr. Stephen Gates; her son Kevin Cardner; her stepson James Elston (Karen); and her daughters, Vanessa Gates-Elston and Amanda Gates-Elston (Marisa).
