With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Margene Smith of Orono, Maine, born in Huntsville, Alabama, who passed away on September 4, 2020 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Reverend Jesse and Beatrice Wilbanks (Sexton); and her husband Richard L. Smith (Redstone Arsenal Army Base) of Bangor. She is survived by: her children, Pamela DePaul (Anthony) of Cranston, RI, Gary Smith (Renée) of Bangor, Karen Smith (Joe Canales) of Spring Valley, CA, Janet Wheeler (Kevin) of Yuma, AZ and Kimberly McKay (Terrance) of Bangor; her grandchildren, Emily DePaul (Ryan Sheehan), Jenna Rezendes (Jonathan), Laura DePaul, Jesse Smith (Mandie), Courtney Colton (Matthew), Justin Wheeler, Heather Wood (Travis), Terra McKay, Jacob McKay and Jared McKay; her great grandchild Margene; and her siblings, Sue Presnall, Jessie Wayne Wilbanks (Shirley), Wanda Taylor (Rick) and Debbie Kirk (Calvin). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are required at the visitation. A graveside service will be private for the family.
