Dione W. Hutchinson Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Dione W. Hutchinson of Orono, Maine, who passed away on November 28, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Dione departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Dione may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Dione leaves behind.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Frederick E. Hutchinson; her daughters, Juliana Graham of Maine and Karen Prest (late Albert Prest) of West Roxbury; her grandchildren, Benjamin Shaw (Sasha), Bryan Shaw (Stacy), Brittney and Jacob Prest; and her siblings, Carlson Williams and Don Williams. She was also cherished by several great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Cadillac Room at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel (119 Eden St, Bar Harbor, ME 04609).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the University of Maine Foundation, Buchanan Alumni House, Two Alumni Place, Orono, ME 04469, to be added to the Frederick E. & Dione W. Hutchinson Presidential Scholarship Fund.
