Clayton R. Dyett Jr. Obituary
Clayton Robert Dyett Jr., 67, of Old Town, ME, passed away on November 16, 2024, surrounded by family.
Clayton was born on May 30, 1957, to Jean (Gillis) and Clayton Dyett Sr. in Gloucester, MA. After Clayton graduated from Gloucester High School in 1975, he went on to earn his bachelor's degree from The University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Clayton was a thoughtful, kindhearted man with a zest for life. He loved to be around his family, often making the long drive from northern Maine to Gloucester in order to attend holiday gatherings and birthdays for his many nieces and nephews. Those who knew and loved him would describe him as a gentle giant; despite his hulking stature, he exuded calmness and near constant positivity. To Clayton, or Uncle Kaikee as his niece and nephews lovingly called him, everything was "fantastic!". He was quick with a joke or a riddle and delighted in making his niece and nephews, and subsequent great nieces and nephews laugh. Despite the distance he remained very close with his sister and loved her children as if they were his own.
He was a man of faith and found comfort in reading the Bible. He enjoyed fishing, taking his nephews on memorable trips to Moosehead Lake. He had many life-long friends and loved the camaraderie those friendships afforded; whether it was his teammates on his high school football team, his brothers from Delta Kappa Phi fraternity, or the members of his fantasy baseball league of over 30 years, Clayton was happiest when he was around others. He found joy in his work as a kitchen designer and was loved by many coworkers who grew to be dear friends. Undoubtedly, everyone who knew Clayton knew how lucky they were to have such a wonderful friend like him in their lives, and he will be dearly missed.
Clayton is survived by his mother, Jean Dyett; his sister, Heather and her husband Gaetano Peritore; his niece and nephews, Rachel Peritore and her husband Tony Guzmán, Mario Peritore and his wife Kayla, Christopher Peritore and his wife Ivana; aunts, Sandra Smith and Christine Gillis; many cousins; and 7 great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Clayton Dyett Sr.; aunt, Anne Gillis; and uncle, Max Dyett.
