He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Avonell Whitten and Albert Sherman Pettengill; his daughter Rosalie Bass; his sister Edna Mae Neveaux; his wife Lauraine Methot Pettengill of Old Orchard; his children, David Pettengill (Young) of Olympia, WA, Robert Pettengill, Jr. of Old Orchard, Harold "Eddie" Pettengill (Jenn) of Buxton, Cynthia Ayotte (Roger) of Dayton, Joanne Savage (Gary) of Arundel and Robin Huguenin (Alan) of Dayton; and his siblings, Ralph Pettengill (Louise) of Waterboro and Priscilla Gregoire (Paul) of Waterboro. He was also cherished by 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
