He was predeceased by: his father Lionel Descoteaux; and his brother Gerald Joseph Descoteaux. He is survived by: his mother Patricia Descoteaux; his wife Lucienne "Lucy" Descoteaux; his children, Richard W. Descoteaux Jr. (Shian), Lori-Ann Nostrom (Andrew) and Richie W. Descoteaux; his siblings, Helen Descoteaux and Robert Descoteaux (Sue); and his granddaughter Cady Marie Nostrom. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and two step grandchildren.
