He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Louis and Lois Ann Smith (Stubbs); his son Lyle W. Smith; his siblings, Evis Littlefield (Arthur) and John "Jack" Smith (Lorraine); and his half-brother Earl "Harvey" Stubbs.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Smith (Johnson) of Oakland; his daughters, Evelyn L. Beaulieu of Rangeley, Lois A. Letourneau (Dan) of Ocala, Rhonda L. West of Oakland, Rosemarie L. Smith of Oakland and Lisa L. Goodrich (Randy) of Sidney; his stepdaughter Jeanne Brann (Merle) of Phillips; his grandson Aaron L Smith of Rome; and his sister Alta Thomas of Leesburg, Florida. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
