He is survived by: his sister Bette DeVos; his children, Richard Jr. (Sharon), Steven (Terry) and Shirley Lake (Bruce Walters); his grandchildren, Karinne Brobst (Daniel VanderClock), David Lake (Amanda Clinton), Adam, Erik, Joshua Brobst and Tristan Bartlett; and his great grandchild Theodoe VanderClock. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
