He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Beattie and Tirzah Beattie (Tebbetts); his son Brett B. Beattie; his son-in-law John MacKay; and his siblings, Beatrice Beattie, Edward Beattie, Beverly Vezina, Beryl Reeks, Tirzah MacKay and Charles Beattie.

He is survived by: his wife Beverly Abbott Beattie of North Berwick; his son Edward Beattie (Tracy) of Hampton Falls; his stepchildren, Lauren Proulx (Brendan) of Raymond, Leslie MacKay of Sanford and Paul Abbott (Jannie Durr) of Augusta, Maine; his grandchildren, Maura, Terrance, Jeremy, Caitlin and Tara Healey; his stepchildren, Albert "Buddy" Mansolilli, John "Alex" MacKay, Jr., Jessyca Rieder (Irons), Bryce Irons and Abbott MacKay; and his close friend Jonathan Finn of Georgetown, MA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
