Kathy Englehart wrote a sympathy message

“To Dean's family- I taught with Dean at KVCC for many years. We both had microbiology backgrounds so it was fun to work with someone who would be excited when viewing algae or microbes with the microscope. He was a gifted educator and so supportive and kind to his students. He was in his element when he was in lab or in the field with students, particularly in the Marine Biology class! Students loved to hear the stories of his research adventures. I am so sorry for your loss.”
