He was predeceased by: his father Darrell Toner; and his father-in-law Joseph Park. He is survived by: his friend Barbara Park; his wife Barbara Park Toner of New Vineyard; his son Joseph Park Toner; his daughter-in-law Rachel Ventrella Toner of Jay; his daughter Anna Toner Reese; his son-in-law Adam Reese; his grandchild Vera Kathryn Toner; his stepgrandchildren, Allison Reese and Ethan Reese; his mother Leanne Toner of Houlton; his siblings, Pam Stewart, Crystal Toner, Liz Toner, Michelle Toner, Pat Toner, Matthew Toner and Tom Toner; his friend Gordon Stairs; his mother-in-law Genevieve Miga Park; his sister-in-law Julie Park Lagoyda (John Paul); and also, Winnie Park Said (Brian Said), Christine Park Warren (Bob Warren) and Lisa Park Laflin (Brent Laflin).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to the James Toner Memorial Scholarship, which will be dedicated to a student in the field of outdoor recreation.
