He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Hayward and Mathel Bell (Dority); and his granddaughter Emily Gumpp. He is survived by: his wife Judith Bell (Tate); his children, Lisa Carter (Chuck Carter), Suzanne Bell and Damon Bell (Amy Bell); his granddaughters, Hailee Carter, Carli Carter, Grace Gumpp, Jenna Jordan (Bell) and Jadyn Bell; and his sister Ilene Moore.
