He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Chesley and Mildred Shaw Chesley; his wife Joyce Curtis Chesley; his son Melvin Chesley Jr.; and his sister Rhoda Young.
He is survived by: his daughters, Barbara Montgomery (Michael) and Sandra Stevens (David); his brother David Chesley (Lisa); and his grandchildren, Crystal Reese (Aaron), Nicole Manos (Chris), Benjamin Winiarski (Ashley Jellen) and Joshua Winiarski.
For years, Melvin sold beans and donated each year for the River Driver's supper, so even if you didn't get to know him, you may have enjoyed the fruits of his labor at one of the town suppers.
