He was predeceased by : his parents, James Hand and Opal Hand (Elliott); his wife Alma "Amy"; his daughter Bonnie Dean; and his siblings, Bernard, Charles Hand and Irene Quinn.
He is survived by : his children, Harvey L. Brown III (Judy) of Presque Isle, Debra St. Thomas (John) of Presque Isle, Ruth Turner of Mapleton, Steven Hand of Presque Isle and Nancy Hon (Tommy) of Ellsworth. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.
