Rosalie Miranda Pomerleau Obituary
Rosalie Miranda Pomerleau, aged 92, passed away on Monday, April 7th, 2025 at her home in Lisbon, Maine surrounded by family due to a long term illness. Rosalie was born on April 29th, 1932 in Lewiston, Maine to the late Everette Knowlton Sr. and Rosella Obie Knowlton.
She was the oldest of 4 children, alongside Everette Jr., Dorris, and Sandra. She graduated 8th grade in Lewiston and later received her high school diploma through mail correspondence as well as a certificate for book-keeping and computers. She married her late husband, Roland Pomerleau, on December 8th, 1951 in St. Annes Parish in Lisbon, Maine and they moved to Lisbon, Maine.
She was very proud to work at J.J Newbury as a cashier and working in the baby department, as well as her dads farm, baking wedding cakes, bookkeeping for her husband's shop, and raising and selling fish and seahorses in her own aquarium. She was also proud of having 17 pregnancies and 16 children.
She was very involved with the Catholic Church, and she loved sewing, puzzles, gardening, canning, baking, cooking, spending time with family, crosswords, going to family outings, and collecting records.
On her first date with her husband Roland, she had her mom go with her because she was nervous, and then they ended up getting married and being together for 64 years.
A couple weeks before her passing, her youngest daughter Christine was visiting and told her she loved her, and she showed her sense of humor and said i love you too but i don't know why, and laughed.
Whenever she was asked by any of her children or grandchildren who was her favorite, she always said i don't have a favorite, i love you all the same, with a big grin on her face.
She is survived by her children, son Joseph and wife Lucile Pomerleau of Lewiston, daughter Annette Kennedy of South Portland, son Paul and wife Sue Pomerleau of Sabattus, son Raymond Pomerleau of Lisbon, daughter Kathleen and husband James Lord or South Carolina, daughter Jeannette of Augusta, son Marcel and wife Maria Pomerleau of California, son Armand and wife Lisa Pomerleau of Sabattus, son Dominique and wife Chona of California, son Jean and wife Lucy Pomerleau of Lewiston, son Eugene and wife Beth Pomerleau of Lisbon, and daughter Christine and husband Phil Hunt of Mechanic Falls, her son-in-law Richard James of Lewiston, her sister Dorris and husband Lee Louis of Harrison, and sister Sandra of Skowhegan, her sister-law-in Nun Knowlton and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Rosalie is predeceased by her husband, Roland Pomerleau, August 8th, 2015, 4 children, Theresa James, November 12th, 2017, Robert Pomerleau Sr., March 27th, 2022, Ronald Pomerleau, October 9th, 1985, and Peter Pomerleau, November 1st, 1970, 3 grandchildren, Raymond Pomerleau Jr., Timothy Toman, and Marc Pomerleau, a brother, Everette Knowlton Jr., May 2011, her son-in-law Fred Kennedy , March 5, 2024, as well as her beloved pets, Skippy, Missy, Button, Lucky and Guinea.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025 at Crosman Funeral Home, 40 Main St, Lisbon Falls, ME, 04252, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with a Mass of Christian Burial the following day, Wednesday April 16th, 2025 at Holy Trinity Parish, 67 Forest Hill Ave, Lisbon ME, 04252 at 11am. The burial will be at St. Annes Cemetery in Lisbon, ME at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Rosalie can be made to: The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston, ME, The Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn, ME, or Andwell Hospice in Lewiston, ME.
