He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Buster and Lenora Sturgeon (Dean); and his wife Marylyn Sturgeon (Lowe). He is survived by: his girlfriend Peggy Ferguson; his brother Lawrence "Bing" Sturgeon, Jr.; his friend Carroll Brown; his cousin Pricscilla Bard; and his pet Kitty. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

“To Bing, Carroll, Peggy and the rest of the Sturgeon Clan, My sincerest condolences. He was a great person and worker. Barry and I would argue about the Celtics greatest player over a few beers of course. He would visit me when I would be ice fishing on Mattanawcook Pond, again over a few beers. One time, a friend whom I won't mention would in a fit of anger toss his tennis racket on the roof of the (High School my time) and Barry came to the rescue by going up and bringing the racket down”
