He was predeceased by: his parents, Elias R. Smith Sr. and Lena Smith; and his brothers, Roger Finnemore of Germany, Elias Smith Jr. of Waterboro and James Smith.

He is survived by: his siblings, Howard of Limerick, Charles Smith (Cindy) of Limerick, Gary Smith (Debra) of West Baldwin and Yvonne Jay.
