He was predeceased by: his parents, Hormidas Mathieu and Rose E. Mathieu (Bilodeau); his brother Robert Mathieu; and his great grandchildren, Abigail Bailey, Asher Bailey and Alana Robinson.
He is survived by: his wife Simone Mathieu (Landry); his sons, Daniel Mathieu (Karen) of Lewiston, Kenneth Mathieu of Lewiston and Larry Mathieu of Lisbon; his granddaughters, Virginia Robinson, Audra Trenoweth (Travis) and Melissa Bailey (Chris); his great grandchildren, Andrea Robinson, Natalie, Emma, Aiden, Henry, Owen Bailey, Kai Trenoweth, Brielle Kelley and Levi Trenoweth; and his brother-in-law Regis Landry. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
