He was predeceased by: his father John "Sonny" Capen II; and his son David Capen Stearns. He is survived by: his mother Joyce Capen (Burns); and his siblings, John Capen III (Elizabeth "Beth"), Brenda Capen and Maureen Trainor. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and many other close family members.
