He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, Frank Taylor and Chuck Bessey; and his great-uncle Dick Bessey. He is survived by: his close friends, Chance Brown and David Trenholm; his son Owen Richard; his parents, Tracy Bessey (Fonz) and Thomas Bessey; his grandmothers, Dawn Norton Taylor and Josephine Bessey Holmes (David); his sister Samantha Bessey; his uncle Scott Taylor; his aunts, Karen Pease (Steven), Christine Anzalone (Chris) and Peg Bessey (Scott); his cousins, Guy Atwood, Elizabeth Savage, Cassandra Sherman, Josie Pease, Elias Pease, Joseph Lane and Andy Lane; his in-laws, Chris and Rena Frank; his siblings-in-law, Kelsey and Jack Wise; his nephew Dylan; his close friends, Casey and John; his full-blooded Bloodhound Daisy Duke; and also Lauren.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Western Mountains Baptist Church (928 Carrabassett Rd, New Portland, ME 04961).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that those who desire consider memorial gifts in Rick's memory to his son Owen Bessey c/o Tracy Bessey 241 Main St., Beehive 2, Kingfield, Maine 04947 to start a college trust fund or to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, Financial Management Branch – Gift Fund, National Institute of Health, 6700 B Rockledge Dr., Room 1336, Bethesda, MD 20892 (must include donors name & in memory of Rick Bessey 241 Main St. Kingfield, ME 04947).
