He was predeceased by: his wife Roberta "Bobby" E. French (Dixon); and his son Stephen E. Carpenter. He is survived by: his daughter Kimberly A. Noble (Kent) of Kennebunkport, ME; his siblings, John C. French III of Hartford, CT and Sylvia Nyhagen of Williston, VT; his daughter-in-law Eileen Carpenter of North Providence, RI; his sister-in-law Geraldine "Gerri" Margerum (David); and his grandchildren, Lindsay Ando, Sean Carpenter, Adrienne Noble, Brett Noble, Lisa Krieser, Shannon Pedroza, Michael DiIorio and Christopher DiIorio. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and lots of close friends.
