He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smith and Harriet Smith (Whitney); his wife Irene Smith (Bois); and his siblings, Richard, Robert, John, Norman, Donald, Arlene, Royal, Frances and Jim.
He is survived by: his sons, Royal Smith (Rosanne), Michael Smith (Patricia), John Smith (Nancy), Freeland Smith (Joanne) and William Smith; and his grandchildren, Sandra, Scott, Shawn, Amy, Heather, Benjamin, Jamie, Zachariah and Jacqueline. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
