He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Nickerson and Beatrice Nickerson (Jewell); his wife Marie Arlene Nickerson (Wilkins); his son Michael P. Nickerson; and his brother Richard Nickerson.

He is survived by: his children, Greg Nickerson (Paula Hogan) of New Hampshire, Mark Nickerson of Hong Kong, Darrin Nickerson of Caribou, Cindy Hunter (Mark) of South Carolina and Denise Yenidogan of Caribou; and his sisters, Linda Orcutt of Ashland and Molly Nickerson of Bridgewater. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
