He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond W. and Esther W. Thornton (Schnell); and his brother Warren Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Edythe Thornton of Greenville; his son Douglas Thornton (Ewa Kubiak); his grandchildren, Natalia Thornton of Branchville, NJ. and Nikolas Thornton of Branchville, NJ.; his sister-in-law Joyce Bresee of Tampa, FL.; and also Janet Peterson of Edison, NJ.
