He was predeceased by: his parents, Salvatore J. Messana and Eva Messana (Pasquale); his mother-in-law Wilma Carpenter; and his sister-in-law Judy Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Valerie Messana (Carpenter) of Gorham; his children, David Messana (Michelle) of South Portland, Jonathan Messana (Sarah) of Portland and Kristin Ciampa (David) of Gorham; his grandchildren, Samuel Messana, Lucy Ciampa, Madelyn Messana, Oscar Messana and Evangeline Ciampa; his brother John "Jay" Messana (Elizabeth); his nephews, William and Benjamin of Easton, MA; his father-in-law Harold Carpenter of Falmouth; his brothers-in-law, Elliott Carpenter of Glastonbury, CT and Chris Carpenter (Mitzi); his son Zachary of Suffolk, VA.; his friend Stephen Carnahan (Judith Taylor) of Auburn, Maine; and also, Sarah Carnahan and Liam Carnahan. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
With respect to COVID restrictions and state of Maine mandates, this will be an outdoor service with social distancing observed (please dress warm).
