He was predeceased by: his wife Joann Southard; his mother Meredith Haskell; his grandparents, Joseph and Bertha Welch; his brother Byron; his sister-in-law Carolyn Ballard; and his sister Bertha (Bill Donlon).
He is survived by: his close friend Patricia Davis of Gorham, Maine.; his children, John Ripton (Barbara) of Kennebunkport, Maine., Philip Ripton (Brenda) of Palmyra, Maine., Thomas Ripton (Paulie) of Omaha and Vicky Ballard of Gainesville; his grandchild Laurie MacKenzie (Butch) of Plymouth, Maine.; and his siblings-in-law, Sandra McNichol of St Albans, Debbie Cooper of Hartland and Rocky Rice of Hartland, Maine.. He is also survived by Twenty grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
