He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Abbott and Barbra Abbott; his mother-in-law Jeanne; and his nephew Christopher. He is survived by: his wife Lori; his son Ryan (Meagan); his grandson Ashtyn; his son Shane (Amy); his grandchildren, Grady and Finley; his father-in-law Lum; and his siblings, David (Judy) and Marjorie (Stetson).
