He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene O'Brien and Doris O'Brien; and his brother Bill O'Brien. He is survived by: his wife JoElla O'Brien of Brunswick; his children, Raven Wing of Brunswick, Molly O'Brien of West Bath and Dan O'Brien of Illinois; and his sisters, Jane and Judy.
