He was predeceased by: his parents, Berton Makinen and Maxine Robinson (Richard). He is survived by: his wife Sarah Makinen of Farmington; his children, Lois Bubier (Jon) of Farmington, Suzy Makinen of New Sharon and Barry Makinen (Holly) of West Farmington; and his sister Priscilla Smith of Berekley. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
