He was predeceased by: his wife Alice Barbara Cheeseman (Chandler); his parent Margaret Nolfi; and his stepfather Salvatore Nolfi. He is survived by: his children, Gordon Edwin Cheeseman Jr. (Cherrie Cheeseman), Martha Mayberry (Rusty Mayberry), Melissa Cheeseman (Karl Swenson) and Eliza Quill; and his grandchildren, Kristen Alice Campbell (Robbie Campbell), Hannah Gilman, Tessa Mayberry, Colleen Mayberry, Ian Mayberry and George Swenson.
