He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Lorenzo Tate and Ida Tate (Salsbury); his wife Joan Tate of Otis; his children, Kim Carter (Paul) of Otis and Philip Tate (Lexi) of Winterport; and his grandchildren, Sage, Ella Tate of Winterport and Shaelyn Carter of Otis.

In lieu of flowers, Dwight requested that monetary donations can be gifted to The Otis Baptist Church.
