He was predeceased by: his parents, Maxwell Barnes and Angela Barnes (Francis); his wife Dawn Barnes (Murphy); his children, Dorothy, Michelle and Robert Barnes; his grandson Darrin Wayne Lingley; and his brother Maxwell "Chick" Barnes.
He is survived by: his sons, William Barnes Jr. (Janet) of Edmunds and Michael Barnes (Michele) of Princeton; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Amanda, Peter, Clifford, Rachel, Timothy, Tyler, Nicholas and Sierra; his great grandchildren, Maia, Adraina, Shaylynn, Tanisha, Evan, Cooper, Skinuhsis, Cameron, Natalie, Jamison, Harmony and Jaxson; and his siblings, Delia Trott, Sylvia Corson, Gerald Barnes, Sherman "Sam" Barnes, James Barnes, Edward Barnes (Blanch), Sandra Murphy (Charles), Tony LaCoute (Shirley), Frances LaCoute and Angela McPhail. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
