He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell W. Ames and Sadie R. Ames (Tarr); his daughter Michelle Zambrano; his sons-in-law, James Robertson, Larry Schultz and Timothy Harvey; and his siblings, Priscilla Berberian and Ronald Ames.
He is survived by: his wife Betty (Boober); his children, Sheila Robertson, Rebecca Schultz, Melvin Ames Jr. (Pamela), Rosie Hews (Chris), Debbie Andrews (Calvin "Bim" Jr.), Russell Ames (Penny) and Laurie Sheppard (Bill); his son-in-law Tony Zambrano; and his brothers, Silas Ames Sr. and Dennis Ames. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Penquis Valley Schools, c/o MSAD 41, 20 Howland Road, LaGrange, ME 04453, for the school nurse budget.
