John Ernest Redman Obituary
John Ernest Redman, 56, of Ridgeley, W.Va., and formerly of Petersburg, W.Va., died Tuesday, March 24, 1953, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born on December 5, 1896, in Petersburg, he was a son of Arch B. Redman, of Petersburg, and the late Anna Elizabeth (Reel) Redman. In addition to his mother he also was preceded in death by one son, Curtis Redman; four brothers, Holmes Redman, Page Redman, Emmitt Redman and Charles Redman, and two sisters, Jennie Redman and Lena Redman.
Mr. Redman was one of 13 children, and grew up to have 17 of his own.
Surviving in addition to his father are his widow, Viola M. (George) Redman; seven sons, John P. Redman, of Moorefield; Arch T. Redman and Raymond L. Redman, both of Keyser; Robert K. Redman, with the U.S. Army; Jack E. Redman, Donald J. Redman and Richard Redman, all at home; nine daughters, Rose G. Eckard, of Ambridge, Pa.; Geneva W. Redman, Grace M. Redman, Shirley T. Redman, Alma Redman, Helen Redman and Roberta C. Redman, all at home, and Frances A. Stierstorfer and Anna M. Kincaid, both of Cumberland; nine grandchildren; two brothers, William Redman and Olie Redman, both of Petersburg, and four sisters, Cora Redman, Carrie Redman and Anna Redman, all of Petersburg, and Grace Groves, of Hubbard, Ohio.
Last rites were in charge of Rev. Mr. Combs, pastor of the local church of God.
Internment was made in the Redman Cemetery in Petersburg on Town Hill.
