He was predeceased by: his former wife Patricia Welsch Lawler. He is survived by: his wife Gretchen Shepherd; his children, Laurie Lawler Pelynio, Deborah A. P. Holbrook (Todd S. Holbrook) and James Francis Lawler, Jr. (Brenda Rines Lawler); and his grandchildren, Nicholas James Lawler and Leah Rose Lawler.
Once when we were smaller, he and Mom packed us up in the car along with Italian sandwiches to feed a group of homeless folks in downtown Portland, teaching us the importance of charity.
