He was predeceased by: his parents, Sherman Cookson and Rena Cookson Sr. (Kenney); and his siblings, Joan Sidelinger, Maynard Cookson, Alyson Thomas, Melvin Cookson, Janase Rich and Sherman Cookson Jr..
He is survived by: his sister Arlene Miles. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
