He was predeceased by: his brother Stuart Newell; and his daughter-in-law Janet L. Newell. He is survived by: his parents, James M. Newell Jr. and Rives Stuart Newell; his wife Margaret; his children, Blake Newell of Lowell, MA, Susan N. Hinck (Karl) of Damariscotta, ME and Alice N. Yoder (Derek) of North Collins, NY.; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth, James, David, Daniel, Sarah Newell, Patrick McGowan, Otto Hinck, Katherine, Rebekah, Joel and Owen Yoder.
