He was predeceased by: his parents, Ethel Cummings Forbes and Mac Forbes (John Malcolm Forbes II); his former wife Elissa English; and his siblings, Beryl Forbes Eddy, Holly Forbes Leon and Jock Forbes.
He is survived by: his children, Jessica Swain Forbes, Tobias English, David Manzer Forbes and Jonathan Manzer Forbes; his granddaughter Sierra Isabella Forbes Tomic; and his sister Joan Forbes Koponen. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers or cards, his children ask that you consider a donation in his honor to the National Association for Music Education, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, or the Environmental League of Massachusetts.
