He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Sherman C. Oakes and Elizabeth Oakes (Schoppee); his wife Ethel M. Grover; his children, Lawrence of Eddington, Owen (Tracy) of Orono, Teresa (Ian Willoughby) of London, England and Kimberly Petry (Jon) of Hermon; and his grandchildren, Kristen Harvey (Thomas) of Westbrook, Bradley Oakes of Bangor, Sarah Willoughby, Megan Clark (Jamie) of London, England and Connor (Ryan Petry). He was also cherished by four great grandchildren.
