He was predeceased by: his parent Carl P. Sr.; his sibling Carl P. Gates Jr.; and his sibling-in-law John Storm. He is survived by: his spouse Sandra L. Gates (Storm); his parent Alice Gates (Burgess); his children, Barry D. Gates (Meredith) of Beverly, MA and Betsy L. Angelico of Boothbay, ME; his grandsons, Patrick Gates and Anthony Angelico; his brother Sydney Gates of Melrose, MA; and his sisters-in-law, Carlene Storm of Danvers and Norma Gates of Peabody, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
