He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Ruel and Claudia Ruel (Lavoie); and his siblings, Lillian Nadeau, Florence Cote, Leo Ruel, Raymond Ruel and Reynald Ruel.

He is survived by: his wife Rita Ruel; his daughter Denise Taaffe (Maurice); and his siblings, Claire Roy and Mignonne Roy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
