He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Howard Sr. and Elizabeth Howard (Seekins); his brother-in-law Richard Miner; and his nephew Jason Howard. He is survived by: his sister Vanessa Howard; his wife Laurie Howard (Varner); his children, Renee Howard, James Ashey, Janica Danforth (Howard), David Smith, Daniel Danforth III, Samantha Ames, Linda Ames, Heather Ames, Tim Hanscom and Adam Baird; his grandchildren, Daylon Danforth, Kelsey Danforth, Devon Danforth, Kiera Danforth (McGowan), Damon Danforth, Kelsea McGowan, Elizabeth Baird, Joshua Ames, Timothy Hanscom, Michael Hanscom, Ezekiel Truong and Paislee Beaulieu; and his great grandchildren, Isabella, Lucas, Aubriel, Kailyn, Shane, Ryker, Ameliah, Everleigh and Paisley.
