He was predeceased by: his parents, Judge Norman Shaw and Erma Shaw (Stafford); his wife Mary Ellen; and his sister Virginia. He is survived by: his sons, Norman P. Jr., Robert, Michael and Brian (Michelle); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Hannah, Kelsey, Mia and Alicia; and his sister Nancy Lombardi (Robert).
