He was predeceased by: his parents, Basil Akerley and Helen Akerley (Gibb); his wife Marilyne (Marnie); and his siblings, Blaine, Gard, Russ and Susan.
He is survived by: his children, Bill Nickels Jr. (Julaine) of Corvallis, Oregon, Keith Nickels (Christa) of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Jessica Sprague (Ted Williams) of Ellsworth; his grandchildren, Anthony Nickels, Natalia Frolov-Nickels and Logan Williams; and his brothers, Lee Akerley (Patricia) of Saco and David Akerley.
