He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Mitchell (Wilbur) of Ellsworth; his sons, Michael Mitchell (Jan) of Buxton, Scott Mitchell of Bar Harbor, Thomas C. Mitchell of Sarasota, FL and Joel Mitchell (Cori) of Ellsworth; his stepdaughters, Andrea Gerrish and Denise Swan (Buzynski) of Bar Harbor; his grandchildren, Lindsay Purtill, Holly Paramapoonya, Cami, Maci Mitchell, Becca, Hutchin Gerrish and Kieren Murphy; his close friends, Frank Brume, Karen Candage, Kate Goshorn, Julie Lozier and Peter Beckett; and his pet Kate. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, he would appreciate donations be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation or the Iris Network. and he never did get that damn hearing aid.
