He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd S. Hartsock and Olivia H. Hartsock (Brown); and his sister Carillon Knill. He is survived by: his wife Norma Jean Hartsock; his children, Patricia A. Heacock (Brian) of Hagerstown, MD and Donnie P. Hartsock of Waynesboro, PA; his stepchildren, Valerie Reid (Carbaugh) and Michael Carbaugh (Carolyn) of Hagerstown, MD; and his brother Earl L. Hartsock (Sharon) of Williamsport, MD. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
