He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert H. Edwards and Hattie G. Edwards; and his siblings, Harrison Edwards, Bessie Edwards Regan and Mabel Edwards Grow.

He is survived by: his wife Lilly Louise Edwards; his children, James H. "Jimmy" Edwards and Carolyn G. Latham; and his grandchildren, Brittany Latham, Chase Latham and Tyler Edwards. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
